Artist Goals!!

I had several artist goals this summer and have managed to meet most of them. Here is my list and it feels so excellent to meet them.
1) continue to participate in local Art Festivals ( I was able to do two)
2) Apply and be accepted in local markets. ( I applied and participated in two markets this summer every Saturday and Wednesday. I so enjoyed this experience as my life partner joined me and we had fun working together and trying all the market food.
3) Paint 2 big paintings. ( 1 did it!)
4) Attend a watercolor workshop. ( I almost was not able to do this as the first workshop was cancelled but last minute a space opened up and it was with a watercolorist that I  learn so much from.

 5) Complete The Artists Way. ( I attempted but did not complete, I am hoping to join a group so to have the support from each other to complete this course.

quote of the day

"It's just someone has labelled us as having a different label to do what you do. I find that labels are the worst thing in the world for artistic expression."

Artist"s Date at China Beach

My partner and I had the recent pleasure of camping at China Beach this week. I enjoyed myself so much, as I brought my travel paints, paper and camera and was able to get some serious inspiration. I found the experience so freeing and it rally got my creative juices flowing. I thought of a few ideas for a children's book, painted two watercolour sketches and took many photos. I had so much fun painting and felt like I was on an Artist's date with myself. I highly recommend taking time away to get of the grid and free up some space to be creative. Here are two paintings that I created while we were away. Love being at thewest coast!

Summer Studio

It has been a very busy summer in the art world. I have been selling art cards at two of the local markets and participated in two local Art Festivals. I have found it to be a fantastic way to network and meet people. I love looking at peoples faces when they see my artwork. People seem to love the owls, animals and birds. Magically they are attracted to what I enjoy painting the most. As an artist I think that it can be easy to go to the place where you think "I should paint what sells" but I encourage you to be true, to paint what speaks to your heart. I know  when I paint and it feels like a mediation and I am  "in the zone", that I feel most enjoyment. So do what you love!
