Water Lily Series
I tend to get an attraction to a subject and then a series comes to life. I like working on a series as it is a exciting way to explore different ways of expressing styles and mediums. This summer was a time for Water Lilies. I had the opportunity to go canoeing in Northern B.C., we canoed in an estuary that looked like a filtering system for the lake. It was so clear is was magical. Here are some photos and pictures of the paintings this summer. Enjoy!

Painting Quilts
I had some time today to do nothing, very rare. So Took out all my paintings for the last year and thought I would make a photo quilt for 2015 of all the work I had painted minus the ones I have sold. After the first painting I thought why not all the years. It is a great way to see how my style had changes and palette as well. Some are smaller because paintings get sold.

Thinking Bigger
I have come to the realization lately that I am a small thinker when it comes to painting. My studio name is "little bird studio" and I recently thought I should rename my studio "tiny table studio, because my studio consists of a small table in my living room. I am not ungrateful, my partner never complains about having the living room turned into a studio. I have a bit of a fear of large paintings. A large piece of paper is daunting. So my new resolution is to go BIG!. Yesterday I did an 11 x 15 painting and it was fun. I like what I created but would like to see more light in it and I think that the textures are all the same so I will create a new one with more variety and light. So I will do a few more this size and then go to a half sheet after. :)
